Cross Country 2019 Part 1

This cross country season I’ve decided to do more Kent Fitness League races as well. Which means if I was to do some of the championship races I wouldn’t get many rest weekends to do a long run – I only run once a weekend as my children are still both very small. So I’ll pick and choose the ones I want to do.

The season started off with the Kent League in Swanley. I’d been carrying an injury and had hardly run so went in to this race with a mindset of just a training run. I didn’t do too bad, 179th out of 289. Which is probably my worst performance in the Kent League but considering the shape I was in, I was just happy to finish.

Next was one of my favourite courses, not at the time when climbing up the hills but I do enjoy Sommerhill School in Tonbridge. Although still short of fitness I had a much better race and was 161th out of 283 and even ahead of some team mates. Still not happy with that though.

I missed the next race which happened to be the first Kent Fitness League Race at Knole Park.

The third race of the season was again at Swanley Park but this time for a Kent Fitness League Race. I (thought) I was running much better but finished in rather a similar position as the first Kent League, behind most of my team mates. I was wearing my new spikes and again they were very painful, coupled with a side stitch I finished a disappointing 93rd.

So this is the story so far.
