Paddock Wood Half Marathon – Preperation

It dawned on me today, there is less than 5 weeks until my first half marathon of the year.  I’ve spent the last two months on speed work and short distances, improving my 5k and 10k times to close to my 2015 goals but I have neglected the mileage. The most I have run in 2015 is 8 miles.  With another 5 miles to go I better start upping the mileage and quick.

My 8 mile run of less than an hour was excellent, well for someone of my running ability, slow to any other normal runner I’m sure.  That has given me the confidence to get a better time for Paddock Wood – something that plays a big part in getting a good time.  With the course at PW being flat and fast, I am again confident of getting a PB.  My official half marathon PB is 1:47:32 but that was on a hilly course so watch this space.

The first time I done this race was a great experience.  Geoff and I sprinted the last half mile and Nick completed his very first half marathon, at the end we were all really happy with three PBs.  With other friends joining in this year, Geoff, Nick, Nicky and Stuart I’m hoping we are all celebrating a great run with some personal achievements included.
