Medway Summer 5k Series

Tonight sees the last instalment of the Medway 5k Series 2015. A total of five races held around different areas of the Medway Towns. The four races previous have been at The Great Lines, The Strand Gillingham, Capstone Park and Deangate Golf course. I’ve run in all four so far and enjoyed all of them, even if some of my times were disappointing.
So far every single one has been organised superbly, Sarah from Medway Council has been helpful and very enthusiastic, all other helpers have been great and the marshalls invaluable. A real credit to Medway Council – how often do we get to say that?

Tonight’s will be held on the track at Medway Park, a great chance to get a PB. My current hip injury aside, I pulled my calf two weeks ago. I immediately stopped running and as soon as I got home I iced it. Two weeks later it is still slightly painful and I probably shouldn’t be running, but after looking forward to this race for the majority of the summer I don’t want to pull out now. If I can’t make the start line or end up with a DNF, I will be cheering on some friends from my club who are likely to get a really good time.

For me personally, what would make me think this was a good run? A sub 20 minute time, even if I can finish the race, I’m unlikely to be happy with anything more than that.

Watch this space for either a happy or grumpy post tomorrow.
