Two Good Races

It’s not often that I say this but in the space of a week I’ve run two races I’m actually pleased with. And I rarely say that about one race!

Monday 16th July

This was the home, for Medway and Maidstone AC, Vets meeting at Medway Park, Gillingham. As I was non scoring, I was able to pick what race I wanted to do. I’d done the 800m in the same fixture the year before so I thought I’d try that again. Last year’s time was 2:32 and with the injury I had during the winter, anything below that would be great.

I shocked myself and ran 2:26.6.

Friday 20th July

Tonight was the Medway Mile, my local council had organised a few races, a mass participants race, kids race and the elite runners. I was grouped in with the elite runners but it was very busy.

Last year I ran the same race in a time of 5:37, and again, anything close to that would have been an achievement to say the least. I finished with a time of 5:22.

This week I’ve surprised myself for both actually being pleased with a race and my times.

It’s not very often I say that (I’ve never said it before in fact).
