Work Run Club

A while ago someone mentioned about setting up a run club at work – as I’m one of a few regular runners at work and probably the only one who belongs to a club, it was hinted that I take on the role.

After a while I came around to the idea, I had ideas of some sessions and where to run and decided to take it further.  I suggested the idea to the HR manager and, as he is a runner, he was keen.  I wrote up a plan, got potential members and requested the company sponsor me to get the qualification.  Within minutes of sending the email to the company executives, all had replied positive and agreed it was a good idea.

To get the ball rolling I researched what was needed, to gain a Leader in Running Fitness qualification, or LiRF for short, I needed to pass a police check and attend a one day LiRF course.

Work were kind enough to pay for both and I’ve booked the course which will be held at a sports venue close to where I live.

In the mean time, I am going to set up an unofficial running club and get some colleagues to join me on a lunchtime run, that way I will have some experience at least.
