2016 Goals

OK that time of year again…..last year I made some goals that I actually enjoyed achieving, albeit I didn’t complete all of them. So this being January time to set my running goals for 2016.

Last year was a slightly different story, I was able to train and put in the miles, currently being a new dad my priorities lie with my son so I can’t train as often as I’d like.

  1. Run 1,000 miles. I’m not actually sure this is possible at my current rate so I’ll have to up the miles in the second half of the year.
  2. A sub 42 minute 10k. I don’t think I will be able to break last year’s 5k and half marathon PBs so I am trying this distance. Current PB stands at 43:34 and that was with a slight injury so I think I’m on for it.
  3. To take part in a track day. Last year I was a spectator and really enjoyed it. I won’t be competing at the front and will be lucky if I’m not last but if it gets the team a point then worth it.
  4. To volunteer at a Parkrun. I’ve run it a few times so why not give something back.
  5. Running a full cross country season. I was able to run a few this year but with the birth of my son obviously that stopped. However I enjoyed them so much I want the chance to do more.

There, goals I think I can achieve, tough but not too hard that they are not within reach. While I’d like to be able to beat a lot more of my PBs, I suspect all 366 days will be full of sleepless nights.
