OK that time of year again…..last year I made some goals that I actually enjoyed achieving, albeit I didn’t complete all of them. So this being January time to set my running goals for 2016.
Last year was a slightly different story, I was able to train and put in the miles, currently being a new dad my priorities lie with my son so I can’t train as often as I’d like.
- Run 1,000 miles. I’m not actually sure this is possible at my current rate so I’ll have to up the miles in the second half of the year.
- A sub 42 minute 10k. I don’t think I will be able to break last year’s 5k and half marathon PBs so I am trying this distance. Current PB stands at 43:34 and that was with a slight injury so I think I’m on for it.
- To take part in a track day. Last year I was a spectator and really enjoyed it. I won’t be competing at the front and will be lucky if I’m not last but if it gets the team a point then worth it.
- To volunteer at a Parkrun. I’ve run it a few times so why not give something back.
- Running a full cross country season. I was able to run a few this year but with the birth of my son obviously that stopped. However I enjoyed them so much I want the chance to do more.
There, goals I think I can achieve, tough but not too hard that they are not within reach. While I’d like to be able to beat a lot more of my PBs, I suspect all 366 days will be full of sleepless nights.
