Today I ran 16 miles. But that is not what this post is about. I ran through some lovely country lanes with views to distract me from the pain of my dodgy hip, my achilles tendinitis and my tired achy bones. But there was something that disturbed me more than my physical pain; The amount of rubbish on the side of the road. At one stage there was piles of it, everything from plastic bottles to discarded fast food bags. This was in the middle of no where, miles from any houses, shops or anything that would produce so much rubbish. My only conclusion is that this was rubbish thrown out of passing cars. While running through these lanes it was very quiet and I could see and hear the wildlife around, rabbits, squirrels and birds. Surely the rubbish would impact their habitat and their lives so why do people throw rubbish out of their cars?
I’m sitting watching Blue Planet 2 and wondering when, where or if this will all stop? Sadly my blog post wont make a difference, I just hope something will change one day.
